Orchard Eye Clinic opened in January 2025 with a simple but deeply held belief: that patients deserve more than a quick exam and a prescription. They deserve a doctor who knows them, listens to them, and takes the time to actually explain what's going on with their eyes. That's exactly the kind of practice Dr. Shay Sechler set out to build.
Meet Dr. Shay Sechler, OD
Dr. Shay Sechler is not just an eye doctor in this community — she's part of it. She grew up in Pleasant Hope, Missouri, just down the road from Bolivar, and she's been caring for patients here since June 2017. This is home. These are her neighbors, her friends, and her family's community. That matters to her, and it shows in how she practices.
Her path to optometry started early. After getting her first pair of glasses in second grade, Dr. Shay found herself spending a lot of time in her eye doctor's office as her prescription changed year after year. Those visits left an impression. By the time she was in sixth grade, she knew what she wanted to do. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in 2017 and came straight to Bolivar to start her career.
After years of practicing in this community and getting to know what patients here truly need, she opened Orchard Eye Clinic in 2025 to do things the way she'd always believed eye care should be done: thorough, personal, and unhurried. No rushing. No assembly line. Just genuine care for every patient who walks through the door.
Dr. Shay has a particular passion for areas of care that can change a patient's life in ways they don't always expect. She loves helping kids and families navigate myopia management before it becomes a bigger problem down the road. She finds deep satisfaction in uncovering and treating dry eye disease in patients who've been told for years that nothing could be done. And she genuinely enjoys the detective work that comes with medical eye care, connecting what she sees in the eye to the bigger picture of a patient's overall health.
What patients say most often is that she takes her time, explains everything clearly, and makes them feel like they actually matter. We think that's the best compliment there is.

Orchard Eye Clinic is an independent, locally owned practice. We care for patients of all ages, from young children getting their first exam to adults managing complex eye conditions. We use advanced diagnostic technology to make sure nothing gets missed. Our goal is to catch problems early, monitor conditions carefully, and give every patient a thorough, complete picture of their eye health — not just a prescription to fill.
